This room has a copy of the ceiling from The Sistine Chapel at The Vatican. Many years ago, when we were at The Vatican, we were not allowed to take pictures inside the Sistine Chapel. Here pictures were obviously allowed. Our Russian guide, Frieda, (standing in a plaid shirt with her hand in the air) explains how Catherine wanted this architecture copied in her palace and how she spent much time in this room reflecting on life. Frieda reminded me of my German Granny whoser name was also Frieda.
