John in front of one of the many fireplaces. There was one in most of the rooms and they use them all winter to heat their big house (mostly with wood.) This location is on the same latitude as Anchorage, Alaska. In the summer, they have about about four months of warm weather and only about four hours of darkness each day. In the winter, it gets so cold that the cows must be kept in heated barns.
